The Great Thursday tune: Michael Kiwanuka - I'm getting ready

And one of those artists who restore my faith in today's musicians.  Although I've been aware of him for a while, I was reminded of his great album when he was on the Conan O'Brien show earlier this week and have been playing it since.

Although Michael Kiwanuka is London based he's parents are from Uganda, so we can go ahead and claim his as a fellow African in much the same way we do Akon and Barack Obama.  According to Wikipedia (the home of made up facts), he's been compared to Bill Withers, Randy Newman, Otis Redding and Van Morrison, all artist that straddle genres.  I've seen him perform live and he's great with the audience, chatting between songs.

I find myself pressing repeat repeatedly when I'm Getting Ready and Tell Me A Tale are playing but I like the whole album, Home Again.

He's on tour right now;  do check his website for tour dates
